Originating from Denmark, LEGO® toys have taken the world by storm with their concept of “building endless creativity.” Merlin Entertainments has extended this creative spirit into a global network of theme parks—LEGOLAND®. Primarily targeting families with children aged 2–12, the brand combines building experiences, rides, live shows, and interactive attractions to create immersive and educational entertainment.

On July 5, 2025, China’s first LEGOLAND officially opened in Shanghai. Covering an area of 318,000 square meters, it is the largest LEGOLAND in the world. The park features eight themed zones and over 75 interactive attractions, using more than 85 million LEGO bricks to fully showcase the fusion of Chinese culture and LEGO creativity. A highlight of the Shanghai park is the exclusive “LEGO Monkie Kid” themed zone, inspired by Journey to the West, with signature attractions like “Flower Fruit Mountain Adventure.”

Here are some of the park’s top-rated attractions:

  1. Mini Land & Watertown Boat Ride: LEGO recreations of Chinese ancient towns, Shanghai's skyline, and other landmarks. Visitors can navigate self-driving boats through stunningly detailed scenes.

  2. 60-meter LEGO Observation Tower: A panoramic tower where guests can enjoy a full view of the park—perfect even for young children to experience the thrill of height.

  3. LEGO Racing Coaster, Dragon Coaster & Mini Dragon: These roller coasters combine thrills with family-friendly design, catering to all age groups.

  4. Monkie Kid – Flower Fruit Mountain Adventure: A world premiere attraction specially designed for the China park. It brings together LEGO storytelling and traditional Chinese mythology with immersive technology and innovation.

  5. Indoor Creative Workshop & Family Building Experience: Visitors can take part in master builder classes, explore free-building zones, enjoy puppet shows, and watch 4D movies—all indoors and air-conditioned, ideal for hot summer days.

Food & Dining Perks:

  • Hungry Bigmouth Dragon Kitchen (Brick Street): Offers burgers, fries, wagyu cheeseburgers, shrimp & avocado burgers, kids’ meals (¥68–¥118), and family combos starting from ¥328.

  • The park features 6 restaurants and 10 snack stands, offering Western-style fast food and LEGO-themed snacks.

  • Special summer offers: In July and August, all food and drinks are 50% off (excluding character popcorn buckets and souvenir cups); children under 12 receive surprise gifts; annual pass holders enjoy exclusive perks.

Tickets & Transportation Tips:

Ticket prices range from ¥319 (off-peak), ¥379 (standard), to ¥599 (peak/holiday). The park provides a smart parking area with 1,700 spaces and is located just 1 km from Jinshan North High-Speed Railway Station. Visitors can also arrive via metro + shuttle bus. The park is equipped with misting fans, air conditioning, and shaded indoor areas—perfect for cooling off during hot weather.
