According to the weather forecast of Guangdong Province on the afternoon of June 25th, the tropical disturbance originally located in the central part of the South China Sea developed into a tropical depression at 14:00 on the 25th. Its center is about 130 kilometers northeast of Sansha City, Hainan Province, with a minimum central pressure of 1004 hPa and maximum wind speed of 6th level (12 meters per second) near the center. It is expected that from June 25th to 26th, the tropical depression will move northwestward, approaching the coastal areas from the eastern part of Hainan Island to the western part of Guangdong Province. Its intensity will remain stable or slightly increase, and it is most likely to make landfall along the above-mentioned coastal areas as a tropical depression (6th to 7th level) on Thursday morning (June 26th).
Under its influence, from the night of the 25th to the 26th, heavy rain to torrential rain will occur in western Guangdong and southern cities of the Pearl River Delta. The sea areas of central and western Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea will experience winds of 6 to 7 on the Beaufort scale, and the nearby sea areas and regions through which the low-pressure center passes will have gusts of 8 to 9 on the Beaufort scale.
Due to the large amount of accumulated rainfall in Guangdong Province in the early stage and high soil moisture content, citizens should be vigilant against local heavy precipitation and the geological disasters it may cause, such as landslides and mudslides.
