Position Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
1.Leadership of the PYP curriculum within the spirit of the school’s Mission and Vision statements
2.Developing the curriculum in line with the IB PYP curriculum framework.
3.Make the annual teaching plan, timetable and other academic related plans.
4.Supervising the completion of the POI each year
5.Collecting evidence of reflection in student work, process journals, portfolios and self-assessment documents
6.Developing and revisiting the curriculum annually to align with global standards and Chinese National Curriculum and Local Culture.
7.Evaluating UOI action projects and service-learning outcomes
8.Monitoring all assessment and feedback regularly
9.Tracking unit plans and teaching plans through Managebac
10.Providing a year-end report on the PYP Curriculum
11.Leading the development under the direction of the Head of EY of vertical articulation for the subject areas which includes planning for the PYP aims and objectives, concepts, knowledge and skills.
12.Developing and coordinating assessment strategies
13.Organizing moderation of assessments within the subject areas
14.Providing all teachers in the school with an effective professional development program. This includes IB-recognized, regional PLOs, face-to-face, online, and in-school workshops
15.Leading and preparing for Authorization and/or Evaluation of the programme.
16.Understand the instruction of the Education Bureau, cooperate with the head of EY to organize teachers to attend training, competition, meet inspection, report work, submit documents, etc.
Strategic and Budgetary Planning
1.Allocating teaching resources for department requirements & establishing priorities
2.Planning resources and teaching aids budget for the PYP
3.Allocating meeting time for collaborative planning within the timetabled.
4.Planning budgets for special curricular events
Deployment and Development of Staff
1.Contribute to interviewing for recruitment of new staff with HR and EY Leadership Team2.Providing individual teacher support
3.Assessing professional development needs, training new teachers
4.Establishing professional relationships with all teaching staff and fostering their career development
5.Do demo lessons, lead the classroom decoration, performing lesson observations, checklists, and work reviews of staff
6.Ensuring staff participation in workshops and IB networking sessions
7.Planning regular in-house workshops for staff
8.Regular communication with staff on internal teaching and learning matters9.Promoting collaboration within staff
10.Recommending subject leaders and organizing regular meetings to revisit the curriculum
11.Plan and collaborate with the big events and activities in EY in a creative and efficient way.
Any other tasks as requested by Head of EY
Requirement:
1. Master’s degree in education or above
2. Teaching Certificate of Early Childhood Education
3. At least 10 years of teaching experience in kindergarten.
4. Relevant experience in PYP programme implementation and authorization.
4. Native English Speaker with strong communication and presentation skills in English.
5. Role model of teachers, patience, optimism, compassion, enthusiasm, and empathy.
6. Competent in working in a diverse working environment.
7. Good time management skills and well organized.
8. Be flexible. Problem solving ability, able to work under pressure and challenge
9. Good team worker, open-minded and willing to collaborate with others.
10. Excellent in IT skills and ways to apply it in school setting.
11. Undertake additional responsibilities which may reasonably be required by the Early Years Leadership Team
12. Have a big picture view, put the interests of the school and division first.
