Things did not go well for a Chinese man who was arrested after a gas station robbery when he stole 156 yuan. The man spent 14 years of his life hiding from the police in a mountain cave. Liu Moufu lived in a village in Enshi, a city in the Hubei province of China. Moufu was in his 30s when he and his brother-in-law, along with another accomplice, decided to rob a gas station. After the robbery, the three men ended up spending 60 yuan on food and fireworks while they distributed the rest of the money equally. When they parted ways, each of the men had 32 yuan with them, per Oddity Central. Soon after, Moufu’s accomplices were caught by the police, and he knew that he only had some time left before the cops showed up at his door. Moufu decided that he would flee the scene and hide in a cave on a remote mountain. However, he probably had no idea that this cave would end up being his prison for the next 14 years. While hiding in the cave, the Chinese man survived by hunting and scavenging for food. He sometimes would travel back to his home village to steal vegetables and meet people, even visiting his family for a few moments.
